The Big Fields POV

Authors Note: The Piece I am doing is about Point Of View. I am doing my piece on The Big Field By Mike Lupica.
There is a lot of different points of views in every story like, in the book, The Big Field. The story is about a boy named Hutch, who loves the game baseball. He tries his best to get to the championship game.
There really isn’t a point of view to the story. The Point of view is most of the time the narrator’s but, Hutch could be the main Point Of View for periods of time, as long as many other people. I think that you can tell that because, sometimes it says that people talk to other people and say “I said.” After the text. However, most of the time it is the narrators point of view.
There is an effect on the book in many ways by the different point of views. Like, when it says that Hutch hit a homerun, the narrator is saying, Then Hutch hit the ball and everyone saw it soaring through the air like a bird. After, They cheered in a frenzy because, they had just won the game.
If it was in different text, Hutch would probably say this. I got into my stance and was ready to hit something good. After I saw the pitch, I out my weight on my back knee and swung as hard as I could. Then I didn’t see the ball anymore, and everyone was cheering so, I knew that I had hit the game winning homerun.
Different POVS’ changes the mood, the character, and the tone of the book in this scene and many others. That happens a lot of books.
Overall, every single book that you could read, could be changed a lot through Point Of View.

True Legends Prediction

Authors note: The book that I am doing is a prediction on The story, True Legend by Mike Lupica.
The Story that I am writing about is A boy named Drew, who loves to play basketball. He is very good at what he does. He is already set up for a good college to go to. He is going to make it to the NBA for sure but, he is struggling deeply with his grades.
His Coach said that if he doesn’t get his grades up, he won’t let him play anymore which will not let him play in college because, Drew signed a contract saying that, he will do the best he can for his grades and for playing basketball so, if he doesn’t get good grades, he won’t be able to play in college or in the NBA.
I predict that he will get a tutor, work very hard for his grades, and will get to play in one of the best colleges is the country. He will be able to get to meet very good people in the world, and be one of the best basketball players in the world. I also predict that he will still keep his family and his friends in his mind because, they are all the reason that will even be able to everything that he does.
My final prediction is that while he is trying to accomplish his goal, some bad things will start happening like, someone in his family passes, or he will get robbed but, he will still try his hardest to try to achieve his goal. I think he will get good grades and get into the NBA and become a very good basketball player.

The Big Fields Theme

My theme piece is on the story, The Big Field, by Mike Lupica. The Story is about a  boy named Hutch who wants to make it all the way to the championship for his baseball team. He needs a lot of determination to help him get there. The theme determination fits well with this story because, all everybody is trying to do is, get to the championship game and, actually winning it.
A quote that Mr. Cullen said, the coach, was, “We all need a lot of hard work, and determination out of us to even think about winning this game to get to the champs.” Which I think is exactly true. Everyone needs to try their hardest to even win one game, not just the best people try but, the whole team does because, you can’t win with just one or two people on your team.  They then later end up winning the Championship game.
This story has the same theme as most of Mike Lupicas other book like, Heat, Travel Team, and Underdogs, all try to meet one goal, to win. Winning just doesn’t need determination, it needs hard work, motivation, believing, and communication, which are all very important.
Another story that focuses on determination is The Hunger Games when, everyone tries their hardest to survive from the other people in their districts, which also need hard work, and dedication. You are determined to survive and win the hunger games.
In conclusion, everyone needs determination; it makes you succeed in the goal you are trying to reach.

Stevens First Baseball Game

It was the 2nd grade that Steven, decided to play baseball. He was so excited for his game to ever play on the field.
It was even better for him because, he was playing on the same team as his best friend, Seth. They we’re the best of friends ever since they went to kindergarten with each other.
Seth was a lot better than Steven at baseball, but he didn’t want to show off. Seth always helped Steven improve with his batting, throwing, and catching.

***
“Here it is, the first game that you have ever played.” Seth said proudly to Steven.
“I know, I am so excited to actually be part of a team.” Steven said happily.
Then they were on the field, ready for the first game of the year.
The games are only 4 inning because, the younger kids usually get tired after playing for a while.
It’s the first inning, and the Tigers, (Stevens team) are ready to take the field. They set up a 1,2,3 inning, all with strikeouts from their pitcher at the time, Jimmy Styles.
Now they are up to bat, the first 3 people in the or are, 1. Seth, 2. Jimmy, 3. Steven. And 4th. Tyler.
Seth hit a grounder to third base, which got him out at first. Jimmy hit a pop-up to the center fielder and, he dropped it. He got to second on an overthrow. Then Steven was up, he was very nervous. He just swung at every pitch that passed him. The first 2 he missed, but the third was a very hard grounder to second and, it passed him. Jimmy got to home plate, and everyone was cheering for him. Later that inning everyone else grounded out.
Nobody did anything in the second inning because, the pitchers both got all strikeouts.
It’s the third inning, Tiger 1, Raptors 0.  Seth was up first in the inning. He popped out to right field. Jimmy hit a hard triple between the first and second basemen’s legs. Then Steven hit a grounder to short. He got out but, still got the RBI. Than Tyler struck out.
It’s the top of the fourth. 1 out and 1 guy on 1st base. They could either get the easy play at second, or the double play, which was a lot harder.
Steven was playing shortstop at the time, and he was very nervous because, he knew he was going to half to make the play.
Then just like that, the hitter hit the ball right to Steven, like a lightning bolt. Steven didn’t know what to do. He just put his glove down, somehow got the ball, ran to second, got the guy out at second, and fell over the base, threw the ball, and it landed right in the first baseman’s glove.
They have won. They won the game, mostly because, of Steven but, their whole team altogether. They all tried their very hardest, which is all that matters.
Then they all had a pool party at Jimmies house after the game, Steven said, “This is the best day of my life!” Then coach Johnson said. “Hopefully, there is going to be a lot more of these.” Then everyone laughed and had fun day at the pool.

Mr.Masons Jars

I predict that the 3:15 story will end end like this...
Troy will end up being a normal, shy boy, and will hardly ever talk to people. Troy will tell Molly about the jars, then Molly wont believe him, then she will ask Mr.Mason is she can look at them and she will see it too, then they both will never act the same way again. Then soon, everyone in the entire school will be hypnotized  from what is inside Mr.Mason's Jars.

Why am I proud of my Country

Authors Note: I did this essay on the project, Patriots Pen, which I did not want to do and would not like to have it in the contest.

Why are you proud of your country? Is it because of the military, who risk their lives for us? Or, is it because you are proud that you can pretty much do anything you want that isnt illegal like, freedom of religion, freedom speech, and many more things like that? I am proud of my country for this reason, and many more.

I like the military because, they figth pretty much to risk THEIR lives for OUR freedom. I am really appreciative because, they really could die at any second during battle. They must have a lot of guts to be able to go school for it, which is very hard to pass, and then half to go across the world away from your family for possibly, a week, month, year, decade, or possibly never see them again except, for maybe pictures that they send you in letters every month or so. I think that is very sad because, people can't get along on this world, and half to fight other people for no reason because, of a stupid argument that people can easily make a decision, no one gets injured or dead, and everyone is fine and they move on with their lives but, we half to have wars and kill each other until one military just forfeits and the war is ended. I am still so proud of them because, they still just risk their lives for our freedom and life.

That is my answer to the question, are you proud of your country?

My Trip to Florida

A couple of years ago I took a trip to Fort Meyers, FL. I am going to talk about my trip there. Enjoy…

One morning, a couple of days before winter break, my mom told me that we were going to Florida. I was so excited about going because of the ocean hotel we were going to, the nice, hot weather, and that we were going with our neighbor friends.

It was cool because, we were right by a pool, there was a hot tub, and there was the ocean with a beach.

It was about 11:30 when we got the hotel. So, we pretty much just got everything un-packed, and went to sleep because, we were all extremely exhausted.

The next morning was actually going to be a ‘fun day.’ We first got our swimsuits on and then, started to head out for the pool. We swam, had races, and played Marco-Polo. When we all go tired, we decided to lay down in the hot tub. Then even after that, we all decided to walk in the ocean. We saw crabs, fish, and even dolphins jumping way off in the distance. When all of that was over, we all sat down and watched a movie together.

The next morning, we all slept very late for some reason, I think we were all still tired from the day before. So, after we were all done sleeping, we spent the day at the beach. We made sand castles, played games like football and tag, and we went swimming in the ocean. During all of that, I got bored and decided to go shelling. I found a very, very big  clam that was still alive. It was so BIG, that it couldn’t even fit in my hands. That night we did the same as before we watched a movie.

The next morning was the final morning at Fort Meyers. We decided to pack up early so that we could play during the day. We went to sea world, and saw Shamu. We saw him do one last shows on the week. It was cool how a whale that big can actually do back-flips and things like that.

After that is was about 4:30 at night, so we decided to go to the airport and head home.

It was such a fun weekend at Fort Meyers with the people that I love.
